Barbados Under The Sea

Roseanne Myers, general manager at Atlantis Submarines Barbados, on how to provide clients with a once-in-a-lifetime experience aboard a submarine.

What does your company specialize in?

Our tagline sums it up: 'Experience a unique underwater adventure in a real Submarine!' Atlantis Submarines specializes in making the underwater world accessible to those who don't dive by taking them underwater in a fully air-conditioned cabin. Being aboard a real, untethered, free-moving submarine in the natural marine environment can be done in only a few places in the world. We offer day or night tours in shared or private options, with Barbados currently being the only location where you can see fish peeking in while enjoying a meal, as well as the only site that offers tours at night.

What are some of the highlights of an experience aboard your vessels?

A power catamaran will take you from the dock along the west coast for about 10 minutes to the dive site where the submarine emerges to receive the next group. Those on board disembark onto the boat and new guests use a ramp to load onto the submarine, go down 11 short steps and sit facing the viewport to experience a fully narrated, interactive trip. You can see fish and other marine life on the majestic coral reef, which was thousands of years in the making.

What does your company have to offer U.S. travelers in particular?

We are offering U.S. travelers who come by air or sea a unique and safe opportunity to experience a ride in an authentic submarine during the day or night, fully narrated in English. No other island in the eastem and English-speaking Caribbean offers an Atlantis submarine tour. Barbados is the longest-operating submarine in the world.

Why should the U.S. travel trade work with you?

We offer a 20 percent commission on our day and night tours and for the convenience of your guests shuttle pick up can be requested online. Upgrades to special priority seating at the front of the submarine is available, as are combination tours with other attractions like Harrison Cave and new Sushi Under the Sea for groups. Atlantis Submarines is a must-do, must-see attraction on the island and offers families a great way to create unforgettable memories and Instagrammable moments.
